HIGHLAND CLASSIC BEER
Despite plenty of citizens known to imbibe, Cape Breton's history is largely void of any long standing brewers or distillers. Perhaps it was that lack of local product that convinced entertainer Dennis Ryan and a group of investors to establish a brewery in Cape Breton in the 1980's.
Proud of the heritage of Cape Breton, the label design prominently featured a map of the Island and a fiddle. Many a kitchen party in the 1980's was powered by the combined forces of a 24 of Highland Classic and a fiddle, but it was a shortlived venture.
Perhaps just ahead of it's time, today Craft Brewers are experiencing unrivalled success in all corners of Nova Scotia, proving that our pride of place, and taste for great beer is largely intact.
